In Odisha, agriculture & allied sectors have provided ample of opportunities to majority of people for sustaining their livelihood. Constant efforts of individuals and community groups have contributed immensely for successful production of crop and various commodities. They have utilised acquired skill and inherent knowledge to enhance production, ultimately contributing to food security. There is strong need to recognise such talents residing in various parts of the state. To fulfil the requirement, Sambandh has initiated an innovative action entitled “Bibhu Kalyan Pratibha Samman” with an objective to recognise successful farmers and community based organizations for their commendable contributions. This is instituted in loving memory of Late Dr Bibhu Kalyan Mohanty, the founder of Sambandh. Dr Bibhu Kalyan Mohanty had dedicated his life for socio-economic empowerment of downtrodden people, especially tribals & rural farmers of the state. As a pioneering initiative, he had initiated action for preservation of local health traditions and appreciation of traditional healers in Odisha.

“Bibhu Kalyan Pratibha Samman” has been kicked off on 26th October 2024 at Dhalabani under Jashipur block of Mayurbhanj district in Odisha with felicitation of nineteen farmers and one Self Help Group. Among others, officials of Government of Odisha, scientists from Krushi Vigyan Kendra, social activists and noted journalists were present during the celebration. About 200 farmers and members of Self Help Groups from Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Angul and Balasore districts have participated in the programme.
