Late Dr. Bibhu Kalyan Mohanty( 1961-2022)

Being a great enthusiast, Dr. Mohanty was an ardent learner of social science and philosophy which led him to take his masters degree in his genre from JNU. Given the kind of curiosity that entailed within him he went on to leave his mark in the field of alternative medicine by pursuing his MD from, Kolkata, India. When he started working with the vulnerable communities, he, being such an enlightened soul and self-guided one, he realised the very essence of health science in the field of growth and development and to his tribute to knowledge gathering and learning about life, he finally acquired his doctorate in health science from USA.
His love for life and his passion for work can be clearly seen when he became the faculty in the institute of social science , New Delhi. His work in various organisations is considered commendable by his colleagues till date.
He was a researcher, a fantastic writer, a great team leader , and a highly energetic personality when it came to working for people. He highly opiniated participatory planning , be it at the office or at the field. He always believed that great things can be achieved through proper drafting and timely implementation. His vast arena of accomplishment helped Sambandh into exploring various thematic versions of work .
Dr. Mohanty was a dynamic person who devoted his life for the people of Odisha especially the vulnerable communities. He was a vehement follower of the motto of Sambandh that is “reaching the unreached’” and took it in pen and spirit to outstretch to the interior pockets of Odisha and dedicatedly served his aim of achieving better livelihood and a sense of security and dignity for the humanity.it is in Sambandh ,that he always yearned and therefore his association took the organisation to celebrated heights .
He will be surely remembered by his friends, family and his colleagues for time immemorial. Sambandh will always cherish its significant member and shall continue to achieve extraordinary stature as was deeply visioned by Dr. Mohanty.

· Senior Ashoka Fellow from Asia in 2009-10 for his tremendous work on traditional healthcare
· Steering Committee member in Community Knowledge Service(CKS) for Asia, being promoted by UNDP and Equator Initiative since 2007
· Governing body member, Indian Red Cross (2009-12)
· Advisory committee Member at IIFM (2008-2010)
· Selection Committee member, Indira Priyadarshini Paryavaran Award, 2009-2010
· Member in sub-Committee in Planning Commission, New Delhi, for Ayush Department,
Member of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India for 11th Five year Plan period 2007-2011.
· Project Selection Committee member under the portfolio UPNRM in NABARD, Mumbai 2010-2012.
